Key characters & human contacts
Your daily shifts bring several recurring human contacts whose actions directly impact your survival and ending branch:
- The Late Father
- Original studio owner who disappeared. Left audio tapes, a locked darkroom, and an archive of FBI paranormal surveillance files.
- The Censored Bald Agent
- Arrives Day 2 to inspect your work. Gives you the darkroom key, demands film processing, and judges your anomaly quota on Day 6.
- The Sunglasses Customer
- Day 5 visitor who attempts to flee while you are distracted. Catching him unlocks the Not So Fast achievement.
- Routine Studio Patrons
- Passport applicants, missing persons, and local residents whose orders generate your operating cash flow.
Paranormal entities & anomalous creatures
Throughout the shift cycle, multiple unnatural entities manifest across security camera feeds and physical studio rooms:
- The Backrooms Mannequin
- Day 4 maze entity that stalked the halls. Freezes under line-of-sight and can be incapacitated with camera flash.
- The Ceiling Anomaly
- Appears on Day 3 hanging inverted from the darkroom ceiling.
- The Reception Vent Entity
- Manifests on Day 4 reaching out from the ceiling duct above the front desk counter.
- The Van Clown & Backyard Entity
- Monitored on Day 4 rear alley feeds; must be reported to maintain the Good Ending path.

- No Face, No Case: Photograph the bald agent with your camera on Day 2.
- Not So Fast: Prevent the sunglasses customer from escaping through the front door on Day 5.

Who is the bald agent in Photomaly?
The bald agent with the censored face appears on Day 2 to hand you the darkroom key and special film. On Day 6, he evaluates your anomaly reports and triggers either the Family Matters or Reset Protocol ending.
Who is the sunglasses customer on Day 5?
The sunglasses customer enters on Day 5 and tries to distract you by pointing behind you. If you ignore his distraction and intercept him at the exit door, you unlock the Not So Fast achievement.
What is the mannequin monster in the Backrooms?
The mannequin is a stalking entity that appears on Day 4 in the Backrooms maze. It moves when unobserved and can be temporarily stunned with your camera flash.
